여름날 새벽 풀숲을 지나가면 바지 아래가 축축히 젖는다.

아침이슬이라고 모두들 하지만 그게 정말 이슬일까?

그것은 이슬 일수도 있고 아닐수도 있지만 아닐 가능성이 높다.

옷을 완전히 적실 정도로 이슬이 맺히기는 어려운데다가 실제로 식물에는 일액현상이라는 비슷한 현상이 있기 때문이다.

일액현상 (Guttation)

식물체에 물이 너무 많고 대기의 습도가 높아 증산작용이 어려우면 잎 가장자리의 수공으로 물이 밀려나오는 현상이다.

습도가 높은 경우 잘일어나서 새벽에 비닐하우스에서 자주 볼 수 있다.
